The Melting Pot is a chain of franchised fondue restaurants in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Tampa, Florida based company has 167 locations as of November 2018. The melting pot prices contains various cheese fondues, wines, salads, entrees of meat and seafood served with dipping sauces and oil or broth to be cooked in, and chocolate fondues. It is part of Front Burner Brands.
The first Melting Pot opened in April of 1975 in Maitland, Fla., just outside Orlando. It had been a cozy, quaint location, and its first menu consisted of just three items: Swiss cheese fondue, beef fondue along with a chocolate fondue dessert. However, as the restaurant’s popularity expanded, so did its menu and ambiance.
Friends enjoying FondueMark Johnston, who has been working his way through college as a waiter in the Melting Pot, noticed the popularity boost and, through the help of his brothers Mike and Bob, scraped together funding to start The Melting Pot of Tallahassee in 1979 (with the blessing in the original owners in Maitland…of course). The Tallahassee location grew enormously popular, and within one year, its success paved just how for future franchise expansion.
In 1981, the Johnston brothers made a decision to branch out and opened their second location in Tampa. As their business grew, the brothers began to consider franchising much more stores so that you can expand
Then in 1985, Mark, Mike and Bob Johnston purchased all rights for the Melting Pot brand name and established The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc., the newest franchise company. After having a year of research and reorganization, The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc. began its franchise offering.
Creating a close knit fondue family – From the start, the Johnston brothers were diligent inside their hunt for energetic entrepreneurs who had been as excited because they were about the concept along with its potential. Their dedication to creating a close knit fondue family proved successful.
History – The very first Melting Pot opened in April 1975 in Maitland, Florida – a suburban city of the Orlando Metropolitan Area – and served only three items on its menu. With permission through the original owners, Mark, Mike and Bob Johnston opened The Melting Pot of Tallahassee in 1979. As the restaurant expanded its franchise, the menu grew larger. In 1985, the Johnston wezvob purchased all rights towards the melting pot prices.
On June 1, 2008, the initial location in Maitland closed. The Company currently has one location open in Canada: in Edmonton, Alberta. Their Richmond Hill, Ontario location closed in March 2013. The Brand New Orleans, Louisiana location closed in May 2018. The Syracuse, New York City location closed in July 2018.
Design – The restaurants’ interiors are made using deep red and black colors. They are dimly lit; all seating is generally in booths, with private booths away from the main room. Headquarters – Its headquarters are located in Tampa, Florida.
An entire meal features a cheese fondue, a salad, main course and a chocolate fondue for dessert. The 4 classes are offered individually or as being a “4 Course Experience.” The 4 Course Experience includes one of several preset entrees, one serving of cheese, one salad, then one serving of chocolate. Main courses are still fondues, but include more typical entrees of meat, poultry, pasta and seafood. The franchise also produces “special-occasion” packages for anniversaries, weddings as well as other events.
